New England Barn Builders features three main styles of construction practices, each with their own benefits. Reach out to us today to talk about which style might be best for your project!
Stick Frame Construction
Stick frame is the standard building practice in the Northeast. The majority of residential and commercial construction projects utilize this construction style. 2x studs used for walls and generally deeper 2x rafters for the roof construction. This is what you might typically find your home or shed built with.
Post-Frame Construction
Post frame construction is a common practice for most mid-west/western regions. Best utilized for clear-span structures, post frame construction features multi-ply 2x columns with larger spacing than standard stick built construction. Post frame buildings will feature clear span trusses bearing directly on the columns. Standard siding and roofing material is corrugated steel, but alternate siding and roofing is available.
Timber Frame Construction
Timber frame structures are the most complex, but by far the most stunning construction projects. Featuring large timbers as the main structural components, Timber frame buildings use the structure itself as the main architectural draw. This same kind of effect can be achieved using faux timbers, to give the appearance of timber frame construction while maintaining a budget friendly project.
